Hard water affects your skin and hair
Negative effects of hard water
- It can dry out your hair
- Cause a flaky scalp and hair breakage
- Cause dry skin conditions
- Aggravate eczema
- Cause irritation from shaving due to scum deposits
Benefits of softened water
- It allows your body’s natural oils to keep your hair soft and shiny, without mineral build-up
- It leaves no soap residue that will dry out the hair and cause an itchy scalp
- It creates more lather so less product is needed
- Hair is left feeling softer and healthier for longer
Softened water can improve dry skin conditions, including eczema, dermatitis or psoriasis
- More lather means you can use fewer abrasive products on skin
- A simple soap bar will produce as much lather as bubble bath products
- There is no residue left on the skin
New research by the University of Sheffield has revealed a link between hard water and eczema. After a two year study scientists have proved that softened water can greatly improve symptoms of eczema.
“By damaging the skin barrier, washing with hard water may contribute to the development of eczema.”
“Patients with eczema are much more sensitive to the effects of hard water than people with healthy skin.”
